Protective Packaging

All vacuum-compatible mounts are packaged inside a nitrogen-purged, double vacuum bag to maintain the contamination-free integrity of the mount.

Comprehensive Testing

After we complete design, manufacturing, and packaging we conduct TD-GC-MS (Thermal Desorption Gas chromatography–mass spectrometry) testing on the final product. The TD-GC-MS report identifies the outgas substance and rate at which it outgases. The TD-GC-MS test results can be used to determine if the addition of the low-outgassing mount will permit a vacuum chamber to pump down to a desired base pressure.

Suprema® Series Clean and Low-Outgassing Mirror Mounts

These vacuum compatible Suprema Stainless Steel Kinematic Optical Mounts are fabricated from powdered stainless steel and specially prepared for high vacuum environments. Two versions are available: The SN100 Clear Edge version with 127-TPI actuators and the SS100 Full Aperture version with 100-TPI actuators. Polished and lapped carbide pads enable smooth, repeatable motion and outstanding stability. These mounts have a two-actuator configuration with locking Hex Adjustment Screws providing tip and tilt adjustability. Convenient 8-32 (M4) counterbored clearance holes provide quick, precise, secure and stable mounting. Suprema mounts are compatible with standard post and post holder systems for adjustable height and pedestal posts for a stable fixed height.

ULTIMA® Series Clean and Low-Outgassing Mirror Mounts

This ULTIMA Clear Quadrant Mirror Mount offers unsurpassed functionality for clean or high-vacuum environments. Thick front and rear plates and optimized, stiff springs improve the long-term stability and provide greater protection against vibrations. The patented clear quadrant design exposes the edge of the optic, allowing beams to pass close to the edge of a mounted optic. The actuators can be quickly changed to accommodate a broad selection of adjustment screws, micrometers, and motorized actuators. Polished carbide pads enable smooth, repeatable motion. A large array of optical mounting accessories is available for these mounts making ULTIMA a basic building block for many optical systems. This optical mount for 1 inch (25.4 mm) diameter optics includes two 100 TPI locking actuators with hex key providing ±7° of tip/tilt adjustment. Convenient clearance mounting holes on each of two sides are compatible with either 8-32 or M4 screws providing quicker, more precise, and more secure mounting. ULTIMA mounts can be mounted to posts for adjustable height or pedestal posts for a stable fixed height.

Stability™ Series Clean and Low-Outgassing Mirror Mounts

The Stability™ Series Clean and Vacuum Compatible mounts build upon the New Focus™ tradition of manufacturing products for special environments in the semiconductor industry. These mounts are nickel-plated and are available in either lower-cost, non-vacuum versions or in ultraclean vacuum-compatible versions. The non-vacuum versions are designed for standard clean room environments where the nickel plating reduces passive particle generation and is easily cleanable. The vacuum compatible versions are designed for demanding UV applications, minimizing contamination and outgassing. As with all our vacuum-compatible products, they are characterized using standard Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry analysis (GCMS). They have been measured to outgas less than 5 ppm of volatile mass at 85 °C over three hours. Mass spectrograms detailing the exact outgassing compounds are available on request. These mounts provide further performance enhancements. The retention system optimizes stability while minimizing wavefront distortion, ensuring that the mirrors are truly flat and rock solid. Mirror installation and removal is simple and fast, requiring no adhesives. Designed originally for precision UV beamsteering applications, these mounts offer excellent long-term stability over a wide temperature range and under shock and vibration conditions. The top-actuated version in which all adjustments are accessed along the top, is ideal for use in compact spaces where access is limited.

LaserClean™ Low VOC Versions Available

Many laser-based applications require extra care to reduce volatile organic compounds (VOC) and ensure added cleanliness. VOCs and other contaminates can deposit on to optical surfaces causing degradation in output power, beam quality, and wavelength. Newport now offers certain Opto-Mechanical components that are specially prepared with clear anodize, nickel plating or stainless steel materials, special lubrication and vacuum-level cleaning. Products are packaged in Class 1000 (ISO 6) cleanroom grade bagging material and then double-bagged for further cleanliness precautions.
