Why Use a Port Plug?
Integrating sphere port plugs are used to block an unused port on the sphere. They are offered in PTFE (Spectralon), barium sulfate (Spectraflect), diffuse gold, or flat black for various port sizes, so that the inside coating/material matches that of the integrating sphere. It not only prevents ambient light and dust from entering inside, but also improves the throughput and integration property of the sphere. In case the right size port plug is not available, consider first mounting a port frame reducer and then a right size port plug.
