The Model 6100 Laser Diode and Temperature Controller provides up to 1500 mA drive currents at up to 10 V compliance in combination with a 32 W (4 A, 8 V) bipolar output thermoelectric cooler (TEC) controller for low noise, high performance laser diode control.
The 6100 is renowned for its outstanding design and quality. The unit’s DSP based temperature controller provides fast settling times and exceptional short and long-term temperature stability. This combined with the 6100’s ultra-stable current control make for a highly reliable laser diode test setup.
In addition to robust hardware, the 6100 is flexible, offering front panel control along with LabVIEW drivers and a user-friendly software suite for test setup and monitoring, high-speed data acquisition for LIV characterization, and TEC controller tuning. Laser diode control parameters, such as compliance voltage, set current, current limits, modulation, bandwidth, and photo diode feedback call all be set from either the front panel or via USB using Newport’s controller software or LabVIEW.
The 6100’s four-line alphanumeric and dual seven-segment LCD output is customizable and can display critical measurements such as laser diode current, photodiode current, forward voltage, TEC current, TEC voltage, and temperature sensor details simultaneously.
The TEC controller allows for easy programming of sensor calibration constants and is compatible with all standard temperature sensors, including thermistors, platinum RTD, AD590/592 and LM335 IC sensors.
