These mirrors are part of the Femtosecond Optimized optics series, Newport's premier optics product line, and reflect over 99% from 600 to 1,000 nm or over 97% from 470 to 1,000 nm. They offer near-zero Group Delay Dispersion (GDD) over the extended bandwidths. They are an inexpensive option for ensuring that ultrashort optical pulses maintain peak power and do not suffer broadening effects associated with standard metallic or dielectric mirrors.

Dielectrically Enhanced Silver Coating
When the bandwidth of low dispersion dielectric coatings becomes insufficient, these mirrors are the ideal choice. With a special reflectance-enhancing dielectric multi-layer overcoating, these enhanced silver mirrors provide very high reflectance for 0° to 45° AOI for s- and p-polarization and an absolute GDD value less than 5 fs2 over bandwidths spanning approximately one optical octave. The EAG.1 coating is optimized for the fluorescence range of Ti:Sapphire, and the EAG.2 coating is matched to the spectra of typical hollow fiber compressors and certain parametric sources.
High Reflectance of EAG.1
Ideal for use with ultrashort pulse lasers, EAG.1 coated high reflectance beamsteering mirror gives R>99% 600-1000 nm at 0 deg AOI, Rp>98.5% 580-1000 nm and Rs>99% 540-1000 nm at 45 deg AOI.
Near Zero GDD of EAG.1
Careful thin film coating design and advanced coating processes result in minimum effect on pulse dispersion. The absolute value of GDD is an astounding less than 5 fs2 from 550 to 1050 nm.
High Reflectance of EAG.2
Ideal for use with ultrashort pulse lasers, EAG.2 coated high reflectance beamsteering mirror gives R>97% 470-1000 nm at 0 deg AOI, Rp>96% 480-1100 nm and Rs>98% 460-890 nm (Rs>96% 430-1000 nm) at 45 deg AOI.
Near Zero GDD of EAG.2
Careful thin film coating design and advanced coating processes result in minimum effect on pulse dispersion. The absolute value of GDD is an astounding less than 5 fs2 from 450 to 1100 nm.
N-BK7 Substrates
N-BK7 is a relatively hard Borosilicate glass that offers good scratch resistance with a very low level of inclusions. For more information, refer to the optical material technical note.
The EAG.1 coating specifically can withstand 0.19 J/cm2 measured with 5fs pulses, single shot in vacuum. Or, 0.12 J/cm2, measured with 5fs pulses at 500 Hz (1000 shots in vacuum). Data c/o Prof. Enam Chowdhury, Ohio State University
