Photosensitive Singlemode Fiber, 1550-1650 nm, Bend Insensitive, FBG Sensor Arrays

The F-SM1500-4.2/125-P Polyimide Coated Single-Mode Fiber is an all-glass highly bend insensitive and photosensitive fiber for FBG sensor arrays and supports single-mode light propagation for a 1550 - 1650 nm operating wavelength range. This low attenuation, step-index fiber has a uniform core refractive index and a matched-clad profile. It has a 0.29 to 0.31 NA, a 4.2 μm Mode Field Diameter, a 125 μm Cladding Diameter and a 145 μm Coating Diameter. Typical applications include sensors, instrumentation, device pigtailing, and light delivery. This bare fiber does not include a protective fiber jacket.

Polyimide is a high performance polymer, which can withstand short-term temperatures as high as 400°C and continuous temperatures of 300°C, allowing the fiber to survive in high temperature wells and thermally cured embedding processes.
