Doubled tables utilize the same internal design as the high-performance single-section RS, RPR or RT tables. Doubled table systems are available with end-to-end and side-to-side coupling for overall lengths up to 60 ft (20 m) or more and widths up to 10 ft (3 m). Doubled table systems are generally manufactured as matched sets and sold as complete systems. Individual tables can be built separately but this compromises the flatness of the joined table system.
Newport’s doubled table concept utilizes a unique joining or “doubler” interface that maintains strength and rigidity across the interface between individual table sections. Using doublers, tables can be joined end-to-end, side-to-side, or side-to-end, to create longer, wider, or “L”, “T”, or “Cross” shaped tables. Although two-section tables are the most common, Newport has constructed complex systems involving more than 25 table sections.
There are several advantages of using the modular doubler approach. Very long or wide tables can be difficult to transport or install. Using smaller doubled tables solves these logistical problems without compromising performance. It is also possible to change the shape of the doubled tables in the field.
The ST series and ST-UT Series SmartTables are available in "end-to-end" and "L" shaped doubler configurations. The ST Series doubled table is a fully integrated doubled table with factory installed IQ dampers. The ST-UT series doubled table is a broadband damped doubled table that has the capability to be field upgraded with IQ dampers. Both the ST and ST-UT doubled tables are available in 12" and 18" thicknesses. The "end-to-end" doubled configuration is available up to 24 feet in length. The "L" shape doubled configuration is available in 4 and 5 foot widths and up to 20 foot lengths (see the specification table below for maximum sizes).
