These steel linear translation stages feature a single-row ball bearing design. Single-row ball bearings provide excellent, smooth, linear travel with the ability to carry high loads. Steel has a high modulus of elasticity, giving it very good stiffness (nearly three times that of aluminum) and good material stability. It also has about half the thermal expansion of aluminum, making it an excellent choice for stability in typical user environments where there are uniform changes in temperature.
