Features

Two 50 W QTH Lamp Choices

Two different 50 W QTH lamps are offered. The 6332 is a short filament type QTH lamp. Short filament QTH lamps have better shock and vibration due to their compact construction and can be more useful for reimaging the filament onto a small input slit of a monochromator, for example. The 6337 is a long filament type QTH lamp. Long filament QTH lamps have an extended average lifetime.

100 W QTH Lamp Option

The 6333 is a 100 W QTH lamp for users that require a larger filament size and additional light output intensity.

250 W QTH Lamp Option

The 6334NS is a 250 W QTH lamp rated at 24 VDC. It has a 7.0 x 3.5 mm rectangular dense filament and an approximate flux of 10000 Lumens.

High Stability

The OPS-Q250 power supply provided with these light sources is a highly regulated power supply. Much of a QTH lamp's stability in wavelength and output intensity is due to keeping the temperature and pressure of the halogen gas inside the lamp's envelope as constant possible. The OPS-Q250 power supply provides highly stable current to the filament of the lamp, keeping the lamp's ripple to less than 0.05% rms while maximizing the lifetime of the lamp.

Four Different Condenser Lens Options

The four condenser lens options offered with these kits differ in the type of lens used and F/# (F Number). Two specific lens types are used in these condenser lens configurations:

  • Plano Convex: Most economic lens option, utilizes an asymmetric lens shape to minimize spherical aberration
  • Aspheric: The front surface of an aspheric lens gradually changes in curvature from the center of the lens to the edge. This shape reduces spherical aberration more effectively than a Plano Convex Lens

F/# should also be considered when selecting a condenser lens. A smaller F/# means the lens is placed closer to the light source inside the lamp housing. This allows for greater radiant flux as more light is collected by the lens. However, this also causes greater lens aberration. As a result, more light does not mean more quality light. Higher F/#'s are suggested if a high quality collimated beam is needed from the output of the lamp housing. However, lower F/#'s are suggested for coupling to a monochromator due to their higher throughput

F/0.85 Aspheric Lens Option

The 66881 uses a single aspheric lens with an f/# of F/0.85.

F/1.5 Plano Convex Option

The 66882 uses a single Plano Convex lens with an f/# of f/1.5.

F/1 Plano Convex Lens Option

The 66884 uses a two-element Fused Silica Plano Convex lens assembly with an f/# of F/1.

F/1 Aspheric Lens Option

The 67011 uses a single aspheric lens with an f/# of F/1.

F/2.2 Aspheric Lens Option

The 67009 uses a single aspheric lens with an f/# of F/2.2.

All Necessary Components for Lamp Operation Included

Each light source includes a QTH lamp, appropriate socket adapter, lamp housing interconnection cable, power supply, and Research Lamp Housing. After a quick and easy assembly, the light source is ready for use and easily integrated into a user's setup. The lamp housings offered with these light source kits are capable of operating all 50-250 W QTH lamps. This allows the user to interchange lamps in their setup simply by replacing the lamp and socket adapter (if necessary) in their lamp housing.
