New Focus™ Stainless Steel Crossed-Roller Translation Stages provide a low profile, yet solid and sturdy linear translation. Each axis can be locked in place. The micron-scale travel precision needed for typical optical measurements, such as interferometry, is provided by an angular deviation of <150 µrad in any axis and straight-line accuracy better than 3 µm. We achieve this using thermally matched, hardened-steel crossed-roller bearings and their high-precision reference surfaces.

Multiple configurations for these stages are available to match your specific requirements: X, XY, XZ and XYZ. XYZ stage is offered with a choice between left-handed and right-handed. A number of features make stages in this series versatile and easy to configure and reconfigure to suit sensitive optical measurements with minimal real estate. 

These stages can be used with micrometers, precision screws, or motorized actuators, bought separately to make these applicable for most translation applications. To manually adjust the stage with a micrometer, we offer standard 50.8 TPI micrometers, Model SM-13 (13 mm travel) and SM-25 (25 mm travel) and the 930x series of 80 TPI adjustment screws for finer control. Our Model 830X Picomotor™ actuators give the finest control.

9066 Series linear stages include a model 9042 or 9042-M (metric versions) base plate.  We also offer low profile -COM commercial versions without a baseplate for lower cost and reduced height.

Our stages are completely reconfigurable. If you’d like to combine your single-axis stages to make a multi-axis stage, these baseplates and angle brackets can help you customize your setup. For the Z axis, you can use the -COM low profile version which doesn't come with the baseplate.
