Platform mounts save space due to their ability to hold optics which are the same size or even larger than the their platform.  For example, a 1-in. square platform mount is able to hold a 2-in diameter mirror and only take up half of the area as a standard 2-in. aperture mirror mount.

Hex-Driven Platform Mirror Mounts feature Allen-key adjustments to save space and prevent unintended adjustment. For long-term stability, Flexure lock is included in select models. The Flexure lock built in the mount body, used for P100 models, and the Flexure lock integrated in the adjuster’s bushing, used in U100 and U200 models, exert a tangential force on the adjustment screw to prevent rotation. Both adjustment and locking actions are accomplished using a single tool from the same side of the mount.

All Industrial platform mounts have 100-TPI adjustment screws that provide a 25% improvement in adjustment sensitivity over competing mounts having 80-TPI adjusters. Better adjustability means faster, easier alignment.

Newport's Platform Mounts are complimented by a set of mirror cup adapters. The Mirror Cup Adapters are compatible with ULTIMA^® series and PERFORMA-i series platform mounts. They attach to the face of the platform mount through the 1/4-in. hole in the center of the platform and are locked in place by a set screw from the side. The Horizontal Adaptors attach to the mounting holes on an optical mount, providing a mechanism to convert the ULTIMA Platform Mounts to a post-mounted horizontal platform for mounting prisms, cube beamsplitters, or other components.
