Build a Variety of Miniature Optical Systems

The Model MK-1 Set contains an assortment of our popular smaller components, chosen for building complete systems commonly used in optics applications, such as telescopes or microscopes. With the included 12 in. x 24 in. (300 mm x 600 mm) breadboard for mounting the various positioning elements, a set-up is easily relocated as a single unit without needing realignment. Other components include miniature dovetail stages, optical rails, lens mounts, and a filter clamp. (Specific optics components such as lenses are available separately.) All components are kept in a specially insulated, latched wooden case with a handle.

Each component was chosen with stability, ease of use, and quick assembly in mind to serve as a useful resource, either for standard research assemblies or as part of an immersive teaching tool of fundamental optics concepts. Components are compatible with related Newport items, allowing kits to be expanded upon or adapted.
