Hexapod Selection Guide

The Hexapod series from Newport is comprised of high precision parallel kinematic hexapod positioners offering high precision 6 axis motion. Each hexapod provides an excellent motion solution for applications requiring 4 to 6 degrees of freedom with an emphasis on rotation and alignment. Each Hexapod is driven by high performance actuators with integrated DC Servo Motors and Encoders. Using anti-friction spherical joints and high load actuators, the hexapod offers high stiffness and excellent load capacity. This makes the hexapod a versatile tool capable of carrying a wide array of payloads in multiple configurations without loss to motion performance.

The Hexapod is driven by the powerful HXP series controller. The hexapod uses a sophisticated algorithm to map actuator positions into a user-defined coordinate system. This allows the hexapod to rotate around points in space that are ideal for application specific geometry and analysis. Numerous Digital and Analog input and output channels can be used to calibrate hexapod motion according to external feedback systems. With high speed data acquition at 10KHz, and trigger latency of 50ns; the hexapod is an ideal 6 axis integrated axis motion system for calibration, alignment and position-dependent measurement.

Typical applications include: Optical Alignment and Calibration, Biomedical Engineering and Surgical Robotics, Sensor Metrology and Calibration, Semiconductor Test and Metrology.
