This market accounted for nearly one-third of Newport’s sales in 2006. Traditionally a respected source of equipment and subsystems for the semiconductor manufacturing industry, the company has been expanding its participation in other microelectronics applications requiring technologies that enable faster processing, improved inspection and higher yields.
