This Oriel® Arc Lamp System was designed for applications requiring uniform illumination. This system delivers a 1.0-inch (25.4 mm) diameter collimated beam, uniform to ±5%. Beam divergence is ±1.5°. The work plane is 2.6 inches (66.5 mm) from the bottom of the beam turning assembly. Various dichroic filters are available to shape the spectral output in the UV and VIS, or use the unfiltered source for output from 200 nm to 2.5 µm.

System Components
Lamp Housing
The 66990 Oriel Uniform Illuminator uses a fan cooled lamp housing that offers a temperature controlled, stable environment for the lamp. An advanced optical integrator ensures a beam uniformity of ±5%. A number of safety features are incorporated into the housing to prevent accidental exposure and lamp overheating. A lamp ignitor is built into the lamp housing. The beam turning assembly can be rotated 360° about the optical axis.
Power Supply
The 69907 Power Supply delivers constant power to the lamp. This supply is highly stable; light ripple is <0.5%. For applications requiring long-term stability (more than 12 hours), we offer the 68950 System. The 68950 works with the power supply to compensate for external factors affecting light output, such as lamp aging and changes in ambient temperature. The 68950 uses a light sensor to monitor a part of the light output, and a controller that compares the recorded signal to the set level and changes the power supply output to keep the measured signal at the set level. To sample the light at the output of the lamp housing, rather than at the lamp, order the 68957 Fiber Optic Probe.
Lamp
The 66990 includes a choice of 50 to 100 W Hg and Xe arc lamp. Please specify your choice of lamp when placing your order. Table 1 lists the power densities for some lamp and mirror combinations.

Dichroic Filter or Mirror
We offer a choice of 6 dichroic filters and a full reflector. The filters are easily interchangeable. One filter is included with the system (please specify choice when ordering source); order additional models if you want to modify the source's spectral output.

Oriel Lamp Housing is designed to operate in a typical laboratory environment (typically 68 to 76 degrees F, up to 45% relative humidity). Temperature and humidity outside of typical laboratory range can contribute to cooling and ignition faults. Cooling issues will cause the over temperature sensor to open, and ignition problems will result from high humidity.
