Newport's Projects in Single-Mode Fiber Optics provides a complete kit of advanced experiments introducing students, engineers and scientists to many fiber technologies now being widely used in communications and fiber sensors research and commercial industry.
Following along the same lines as the introductory Projects in Fiber Optics Kit (see Projects in Fiber Optics), Projects in Single-Mode Fiber Optics provides hands-on experience in handling the components and acquiring the technical skills needed to build and operate systems using single-mode fibers. The kit has been designed to be modular which will allow you to focus on those areas of the technology of greatest interest and help you efficiently manage the learning experience.
The Project Workbook (FK-ADV-TEXT), when compared to its introductory predecessor Projects in Fiber Optics, is written as a technically more advanced manual, geared towards students familiar with modern optics and basic fiber optics concepts.
Each project is introduced with related background and theory, suggested references, and complete step-by-step instructions that guide the student through the laboratory exercises.
The nine projects are available together, in application-specific subsets, or individually by project number. For those who presently possess the complete Projects in Fiber Optics (Model FKP-STD) Kit, upgrades to this kit are available which will supply the necessary additional components to enable you to setup and conduct the new single-mode fiber projects. For other combinations of specific projects in this kit, please contact Newports Applications Engineers for assistance.
