SP Series Optical Mounting Posts are precision ground 0.5 in. (12.7 mm) diameter stainless steel with a 8-32 (M4) tapped hole in one end and a 1/4-20 tapped hole in the other end. Each optical mounting post is supplied with a 8-32 (M4) double-ended set screw, so the set screw can be easily removed regardless of which end protrudes. A cross-drilled hole aids in tightening and loosening the posts.
The length of the optical post in inches is indicated by the number after the dash in the model number. We offer the following standard versions: SP-.75 , SP-1 , SP-1.5 , SP-2 , SP-3 , SP-4 , SP-6 , SP-8 and SP-12 . For the metric versions you add an "M-" to the beginning of the model as in M-SP-1 for example.
Compatible Optical Post Holders
SP Series Stainless Steel optical posts are compatible with 1/2 inch optical post holders like our No Slip Optical Post Holders, Cam-Lock Optical Post Holders, VALUMAX Molded Composite Optical Post Holders, Low Cost Optical Post Holders, and Translating Optical Post Holders.
SP Series Posts can be connected using thread adaptors.
The two tables below (English and metric) show the maximum and minimum heights for any combination of SP-series posts with VPH-series post holders. For example, if a post height of 3.75 inches is needed the table shows that the combination of the VPH-3 and SP-2, which has a min-max range of 3.00-4.51 inches, will satisfy this height. Note that all heights are attainable from 1.00(25.4) to 17.51(444.6) and there may be more than one combination of post and post holders which can achieve a desired height (within the stated range).
