The 77501 uses a 100 W quartz tungsten halogen lamp as the source of VIS-NIR radiation (see Fig. 2 for spectral output). It is completely integrated into a compact enclosure with prealigned lamp mount and fiber holder.
Efficient Collection and Re-imaging
Fig. 1 shows the optical arrangement of the 77501 . The lamp is a 100 W QTH lamp with a 2.3 x 4.2 mm filament. This large filament is suitable for fiber bundles and liquid light guides. The lamp is replaceable (average lamp life is 50 hours).
An aspheric lens collects and collimates the lamp output. A second, plano convex lens, re-images the lamp filament onto the fiber input.
Does Not Include Fiber Optic
The 77501 does not include a fiber optic. It accepts any 11 mm ferrule terminated Oriel® Fiber.

Why the 77501 Fiber Optic Source?
Choose the 77501 when you need a highly stable, VIS-NIR large core fiber illuminator. The spot size is 6 mm, so it is not recommended for small core fibers. The 77501 also includes a number of built-in convenience features:
- Filter holder for 1-inch (25.4 mm) diameter filters, so you can shape the output
- Light shutter to cut off all the light without shutting down the power supply
- Variable iris so you can change the light level without changing the voltage
