MS125™ Spectrograph

We tested our LineSpec InGaAs PDAs with various Oriel Spectrographs, and settled on the MS125 as the instrument of choice for these systems, because of its high resolution and throughput, economical price, and compact size. The MS125 is a micrometer driven, 1/8 m, (120 mm) focal length instrument. Table 1 lists the grating choices and instrument specifications.

* Measured with 10 µm x 2 mm slit and 512 array detector.

** The primary wavelength region is where the grating efficiency is ≥20%. System efficiency will also be affected by the reflectivity of the spectrograph's mirrors and the grating angle, at any wavelength.

InGaAs Photodiode Array Detector Systems

The detection system is made up of a TE cooled linear InGaAs photodiode array sensor and a single stage thermoelectric cooler. The detector head has a 12 bit USB interface; data transfer time to the computer is ~ 6 ms. We offer arrays with 256 and 512 pixels and array lengths of 12.8 and 25.6 mm, respectively. Pixel size is 500 µm high by 50 µm wide, on 50 µm centers.

LineSpec Software

The LineSpec™ software is an intuitive instrument control and data acquisition software that runs under Windows 98/W2K/XP. The software supports routine spectroscopic measurements and data acquisition, such as: continuous, single and averaging scans; absorption, transmission and emission spectra; irradiance measurements. Data may be exported into most MS applications.

Calibration Accessory

To ensure the highest wavelength accuracy from your system, we suggest that you use the 6031 Kr Pencil Calibration Lamp and the 6060 Power Supply, and let the LineSpec™ software fit a standard quadratic regression through the known peaks. The 77251 Lamp Mount holds the lamp at the spectrograph's entrance slit.

Stand Alone Detectors

For those who already have an Oriel Spectrograph from Newport, we offer InGaAs Detectors only, under their own model number. You can mate these to any Oriel Spectrograph using the appropriate mounting flange; some spectrographs do not require a mounting flange.
