Deuterium Sources are ideal for UV Spectroscopy applications; the lamps emit high intensity UV radiation with little VIS and IR. The Apex system is a fully integrated package - the lamp, condenser and electronics are in a single enclosure. Simply mount the lamp, plug in the power cord, and turn on the source. You don't need to align the lamp nor adjust the power supply setting (note; you cannot use the 68950 Light Intensity Controller with Apex systems).
Fig. 1 shows the simple optical path of an Apex Deuterium Source. A fused silica aspheric lens collects the lamp's radiation and collimates it to a 1.3 inch diameter (33 mm) beam. You can then re-focus the output with one of our focusing lens assemblies (see
Fiber Bundle Focusing Assemblies for Oriel Light Sources) . If you are focusing into a fiber, use our Apex Fiber Illuminator; see

The output flange of the 70635 Apex Source is a 1.5 Inch Series female flange. You can couple any male flanged accessory of the same series size to the output.
