All calculations are first-order calculations.
- For lens applications, it is assumed that lenses are aberration-free
and
that a strictly ray optics calculation can be used to solve the problem.
This approximation is sufficient for most general optics
applications.
- For pinhole selection and single-mode fiber coupling applications,
Gaussian ray optics equations are used.
- Calculations have no correction for diffraction,
aberration, or Gaussian
beam optics.
- Input or output angles greater than 100 mrad (~6°) may give results
with errors of 10% or greater. |
