Mirror Mount Basics
An optical mirror mount is used in optics research to hold a mirror in a precise position, and allow for tip and tilt to be adjusted in controlled amounts. Choose by Mirror Diameter
A good place to start when narrowing your selection of Optical Mirror Mounts is with the size of the mirror or optic used in your your application. We offer mounts for 0.5, 0.75, 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 4.0, 6.0, and 8.0 in. as well as 30 and 50 mm diameter mirrors.
Choose by Adjustment Mechanism
Another starting point for optical mirror mount selection is the adjustment mechanism. Kinematic Mounts are the most popular and least expensive. A disadvantage with Kinematic mounts is that the mirror center moves along the normal axis when tip/tilt adjustments are made. Gimbal Mounts are more expensive, but are able to solve the problem of unwanted normal motion. Flexure Mounts are designed for set and forget type applications with excellent mechanical stability.
