These 79 inch (2 m) long Oriel multi-track fiber bundles bring 260 to 2200 nm radiation to an imaging spectrograph from multiple sources, for simultaneous dispersion over a 2-D multichannel detector such as our InstaSpec Detectors. Note, these are not for use with our LineSpecTM or OSM CCDs, as they are linear CCDs.
Fiber Selection
We offer 5 types of Multi-track fibers: Dual Track, and 2, 3, 5 and 9 Track Fibers. The Dual Track Fibers are different from the others (they are not 2 Track Fibers). They have two 0.92 mm diameter input bundles (instead of single fibers) composed of two 100 µm or 200 µm diameter fibers, which are brought together to form two vertically aligned slits at the common end.
Each track of the 2, 3, 5 and 9 Track Bundles is a single 100 or 200 µm fiber terminated with an SMA connector. The common end has a vertically aligned column of fibers in an 11 mm quick connect ferrule. Note, only select Oriel Spectrographs can resolve the 9 track fibers; consult a Sales Engineer before choosing a 9-track bundle. If you are using one of these fiber bundles with your own spectrograph and detector combination, calculate the final (magnified) image before selecting a fiber.
F/# Matcher Improves Efficiency
If throughput is critical, use an Imaging F/# Matcher to improve efficiency. It converts the F/2 of fused silica fibers to F/4, the acceptance cone angle of Oriel Spectrographs. Note, the images are magnified by a factor of two and this has an effect on the resolution.
If you are using an F/# Matcher, choose a fiber with 100 µm core, to compensate for the F/# Matcher's magnification. For multi-track spectroscopy applications, please contact a Sales Engineer to determine the most suitable combination of fiber, spectrograph and detector.
