The 918 Series Low-Power Detectors are a natural progression in the evolution of Newports low-power detector series. This product family was designed to extend the utility of the 818 Series detector family.
All of the features of the 818 Series family of low-power detectors are incorporated into the 918 Series, with all electrical and electro-optic specifications identicalsee
Low-Power Photo-Detectors, Legacy 818 Series.
The 918 Series detectors include the following unique features:
Integrated OD3 attenuator Newports exclusive OD3 attenuator technology extends the dynamic range of low-power detectors, and is now integrated into the 918 Series detector housing. By sliding the attenuator into the beam path, the measurement range can be extended without interruptions.
Integrated calibration data The 918 Series detectors are fully calibrated to NIST-traceable standards using Newports in-house calibration facility. Each detector is shipped with its individual calibration data which is electronically stored inside the detector head. A certificate of calibration as well as the actual calibration curves is shipped with the detector.
Sensing electronics provide feedback to the power meter, adjusting the calibration data to account for any change in temperature, thereby increasing the measurement accuracy.

The 918 Series detectors may be either post-mounted or may be placed directly on the table, facilitating fiber optic input.
An adaptor that converts from the 14-pin connector to a BNC connector is available, allowing the 918 Series detectors to be used with Newports
1815-C or 1825-C power meters.
