A light pipe provides highly uniform or homogenized illumination. Through the process of total internal reflection, a light pipe can transform the output of a very non-uniform light source into highly uniform or homogenized illumination. For maximimum homogenization efficiency, our light pipes feature square cross sections and very sharp edges with minimal bevel. Our light pipe holder (collet) makes contact with the light pipe only at the edges and completely covers the sharp edges for safety. When installed in our clamp mount, it can be easily rotated. Light pipes can be used as homogenizers in illumination systems for microscopes, inspection systems and video metrology systems.
