What Makes up a 66310 QTH Source?

The 66310 includes everything necessary to operate the selected lamp. It consists of:

Rod Mounted Lamp Housing

The 63205 Housing is an inexpensive enclosure for the lamp. It has a 0.93-inch (23.5 mm) diameter opening and a filter holder. Use 1 inch (25 mm) diameter filters, for wavelength selection. The base of the housing has a socket adapter that holds either lamp in a horizontal position. Operating the lamp in a horizontal configuration produces an image of the filament that is better suited to illumination of a vertical monochromator slit. Rod mounting, utilizing the 1/4-20 tapped hole in the housing base, allows height adjustment of the optical axis.

DC Power Supply

The 63941 is a DC power supply designed to run these low wattage lamps. It is switch selectable for 110/220 V.

Collimating the Output

The 63205 Housing does not come with a collimating lens, but we offer the optional 66270 Collimating Assembly. This is a bracket with lens holder that mounts to the lamp housing and allows positioning of a 1.5-inch (38 mm) diameter lens one focal length away from the lamp. Use lenses with focal lengths between 40 and 75 mm, and a maximum thickness of 13 mm. We make some recommendations below. The clear aperture of the lens holder is 1.3 inches (33 mm).

Table 1 Recommended Lenses
Nominal f @ 589 nm (mm)  Lens Material  Lens Material
 Crown Glass  Fused Silica

 50  40540  41540
 63  40554  41545
 75  40550  41550

Z Bracket Lowers Optical Axis Height

The 66275 is a rod mounted bracket that holds the housing at a low optical axis. The lowest centerline height is 2.8 inches (71 mm).
