The 68840 lets you run the lamp at a current from 200 to 550 mA. You can pre-set it to the desired constant current prior to lamp start-up. All of our, and most other, deuterium lamps run at 300 mA, but you may want to run one at a higher current to increase the brightness, albeit at the expense of lamp life. At 500 mA, average life is reduced by ~40%.
Although the 68840 is a highly regulated power source, there are factors that affect output stability beyond the power supply's control. These include: lamp aging, optics throughput variations, and ambient temperature changes. The 68950 Light Intensity Controller works with the 68840 to ensure long term output stability. (You need the 68842 Cable to connect the 68840 to the 68950). |
