The LQA and LQD Series Diode Laser Modules, with an analog and a digital modulation input, respectively, are available at various wavelengths from 375 nm to 1550 nm with high optical power levels. These diode laser modules include self-contained modules with superior optical quality, a very high precision current source and a PID temperature controller, built in the module. All the diode laser modules are available either in elliptical (the E versions) or circular beam output (the C version). The wavelength indicated is typical values only, due to the nature of FP lasers.
LQA Series - Analog modulation of up to 20 MHz
LQD Series - Digital modulation (via TTL) of up to 100 MHz
To modulate the LQA Series diode laser modules from below-threshold (at 0 V) to full power (at +1 V) requires an external 1 VDC analog input. To modulate the LQD Series from below-threshold to full power requires a user-supplied external 0-5 V TTL modulation signal (0 V yields full power). Download the user's manual for complete operating instructions. The modulation sources must be provided by the user. LQA-CAB cable is recommended for modulation interface between the modulation source and the diode laser module.
LPMS Series Power Supplies must be used for these diode laser modules and meet CDRH requirements by providing an interlock input, key enable switch, delayed start-up, and laser active indicator. Warranty is not applicable when a custom power supply is used to drive the module. The laser modules in the wavelength range of 375-473 nm require an 8/12 VDC power source. Those in the range of 635-1550 nm require a 5 VDC power source. These units are shown in the ordering table below and must be ordered separately.
Available wavelengths: 375 nm, 405 nm, 445 nm, 473 nm, 635 nm, 639 nm, 658 nm, 660 nm, 690 nm, 705 nm, 785 nm, 808 nm, 830 nm, 850 nm, 905 nm, 940 nm, 980 nm, 1060 nm, 1310 nm, 1550 nm |
Wide Variety of Laser Modules |
They are available at various wavelengths and output power levels, with the choice of either Elliptical (E versions) or Circular (C versions) output beam shape. Circular beams are generated using a micro lens built in the diode laser module and exhibit better quality than elliptical versions. Newport strives to offer high performance laser diode modules with a variety of different output wavelength and a high output power and beam quality to provide the maximum flexibility in your research. |
Center Wavelength Tolerances |
The LQA and LQD series laser diodes are FP (Fabry-Perot) type. Unlike those diodes with frequency stabilization such as DFB (distributed feedback) or an external VBG (volume Bragg grating), the FP lasers typically have large center wavelength tolerances and wide bandwidths.
Center Wavelength Tolerance accuracy for the LQN Series is as follows:
Typical wavelength less than 700 nm, tolerance ±10 nm
Typical wavelength 700-1300 nm, tolerance ±15 nm
Typical wavelength greater than 1300 nm, tolerance ±20 nm |
