Newports Laser Diode Light Source Modules are available at various wavelengths and output power levels, with the choice of either elliptical or circular output beam shape. They can be used in a wide range of analytical, industrial and biomedical applications.
The laser diode modules are available in two versions. The first is the LPM Series and it includes the diode and collimating optics in a single case. Both elliptical and circular beam output options are available. The second version is the LQx Series, which includes self-contained laser diode modules with superior optical quality and ultra-stable temperature, wavelength and output power control. The LQx Series modules feature a precision current source and a PID temperature controller. Three types of LQ Series are featured:
LQC Series - CW operation LQA Series - Analog modulation of up to 20 MHz LQD Series - Digital modulation (via TTL) of up to 100 MHz
To modulate the LQA Series from below-threshold (at 0 V) to full power (at +1 V) requires an external VDC analog input (not included). Circular beams are generated using either a microlens (C versions) or an anamorphic prism pair (P versions) resulting in a higher beam quality. The wavelength indicated is typical. Center Wavelength Tolerance accuracy is as follows:

Modules in the wavelength range of 375-473 nm require an 12 VDC power source. Modules in the range of 635-2330 nm require a 5 VDC power source. Newport's LPMS and LIQS Series Power Supplies meet CDRH requirements by providing an interlock input, key enable switch, delayed start-up, and laser active indicator. These units are shown in the ordering table below and must be ordered separately.

| To order your laser module with a fiber pigtail, please use the LDM-OPT model number system shown below. Those laser modules that do not have an assigned option code cannot be pigtailed. Specify the base laser module with the first option code (found in LPM, LQA, LQC, or LQD Ordering Information Table), and the fiber pigtail and connector option with the second option code. The total price will be the cost of the base laser source module plus the price of the fiber pigtail option. Call a Newport representative to order, as LDM-OPT cannot be purchased directly on the web. Typical output power for a fiber pigtailed laser source is 6070% of the base module power output depending on fiber type.
