Irises, Apertures & Shutters use metal and mechanics to replicate the function of an optic. Irises, Apertures & Shutters can be used for blocking attenuating, diffracting, modulating or aligning light. Our mechanical-optics include continuously variable Iris Diaphragms which can be used for attenuating the power of a light beam or can be used as an aid for beam alignment. Fixed- and Adjustable-width Slits can be used for imaging as well as beam profiling. Beam Apertures are useful for limiting the angular aperture entering a detector or monochromator. Optical Choppers can modulate a continuous wave source for detection by pyroelectric and other detectors. Electronic Shutters are used for laser pulse gating, precise exposure control, CCD frame transfers or simply for safety and protecting detectors from saturation.
