Newport’s Fiber Coupled Laser Diodes consist of Fabry-Perot lasers, having a fiber pigtail precisely attached for optimum coupling efficiency.

A multitude of center wavelengths—635, 670, 1310 and 1550 nm—and many power levels are offered in one standard size package, which is also compatible with Newport’s 700P Temperature Controlled Mount (see 700 series TE Cooled TO-CAN Laser Diode Mounts). All laser diodes include a back facet photodiode.

Both single mode and multimode light output versions are offered, having a one-meter, 4/125 µm or 9/125 µm fiber pigtail. All fiber pigtails are terminated with FC style fiber optic connectors.

Applications include high-speed data and telecommunications systems and instrumentation, and optical instruments requiring a laser diode light source. Warranty is limited to 30 days due to the products' highly ESD sensitive nature (see Electrical Cables and Accessories for a grounding wriststrap).

NOTE-Laser Diodes are very susceptible to damage by electrostatic discharge (ESD). Please use ESD protective measures when unpacking and handling these devices.
