Most Oriel Fiber Bundles use 11 mm ferrules. Having a common external bundle diameter simplifies coupling and positioning. The ferrules described here replace missing ferrules or convert the SMA or ST terminations from single core fibers, to 11 mm.
11 mm Ferrules for Oriel Fiber Bundles
These standard Fiber Optic Ferrules are aluminum cylinders that attach to the tips of fiber bundles, using set screws. We supply them as an integral part of most Oriel Fiber Optic Bundles we sell. They give all our bundles a common external diameter of 11 mm (0.44 inch). This allows the same holders and positioners to be used for all bundles. Here, we supply the ferrules separately so you can adapt your own fiber bundles, or replace lost ferrules.
11 mm Ferrules for SMA and ST Terminated Single Fibers
The 77670 and 77675 Ferrules have an 11 mm outside diameter with an SMA or ST termination, respectively. This lets you use any appropriately terminated single fiber with our full range of fiber bundle holders and positioners.
