BeamTrack Thermal Sensors offer real time measurement of laser power, single shot energy, beam position and size in a single rugged sensor compatible with standard Ophir optical power meters. The BeamTrack sensor can handle laser beam power from 3 W to 400 W without requiring a attenuator. They can measure laser beam position to 0.1 mm accuracy and size of a gaussian beam to +/-5% accuracy. Laser position measurement is important for laser alignment where the laser position sensor can provide feedback to the laser position control.
Benefits
- Quick and easy measurement of beam power, position, and size
- Fast and easy alignment of your laser
- Ensure that you laser beam is centered
- Monitor beam wander over time

(a) BeamTack features are supported by Nova II and Vega meters (rev2.22 and higher) and Juno interface (rev1.23 and higher). StarLab support available as well (rev2.20 and higher).
(b) Depending on room airflow and temperature variations.
(c) For position within inner 30% of aperture.
(d) Position accuracy for the central 10 mm of the aperture as limited by beam position resolution. Position can be tracked with ±1 mm accuracy over the entire aperture. Accuracy is reduced by a factor of 3 at minimum power.
(e) Assumes laser beam with Gaussian (TEM00) distribution. For other modes, size measurement is relative.
(f) Accuracy spec will be maintained for beams from 3.5 to 17 mm not deviating from center more than 15% of beam diameter. For beams below 8mm in size and powers above 75W, error can reach ±10%.
(g) For P type and shorter wavelengths, derate maximum energy density as follows:
- Wavelength/Derate to value
- 1064 nm/not derated
- 532 nm/not derated
- 355 nm/40% of stated value
- 266 nm/10% of stated value
- 193 nm/10% of stated value
