2004 - Newport moves closer to realizing its full potential as a single source provider through the acquisition of Spectra-Physics laser manufacturing. The merger added over 5,000 products to the more than 10,000 products already offered by Newport Corporation and along with Spectra-Physics, came its other well-known brands such as Oriel Instruments, Richardson Grating Laboratory, Corion Filters and Hilger Crystals. 2002 - Newport Corporation acquires MRSI Advanced Packaging and Solutions. Founded in 1984, MRSI is known for shipping the world's first fully automatic vision-guided die attachment, designing and developing ultra-precision assembly and dispensing systems as well as turnkey integrated production to meet the ever-increasing challenges of the advancing packaging industry. Today, Newport/MRSI sets the industry standard for systems used to manufacture microwave modules, optical modules, RF modules, multi-chip modules with interconnect technology that include epoxy die attach, flip chip, and eutectic bonding.
2001 - Newport Corporation and Kensington Laboratories crystallize their long-term business relationship with a merger. Based in Richmond, CA, Newport/Kensington is a leading supplier of atmospheric wafer handling robotics and semiconductor process tool automation equipment. Newport/Kensington, part of Newport's Advanced Packaging and Automation Systems Division (APAS), holds more than 20 patents protecting their breakthroughs in advanced robotics and motion control. The company's technology has also been applied to fiber optic component assembly and automation through Newport's photonics packaging solutions, and is used in semiconductor capital equipment for high precision positioning and handling of semiconductor wafers.
1999 - Newport Corporation purchases the Commercial Optics division of Corning OCA Incorporated to create Newport Precision Optics. Newport Precision Optics has taken Newport Corporation to a new level of design and manufacturing capability with high performance optical elements, optical systems and value added opto-mechanical sub-assemblies.
1995 - Newport Corporation acquires RAM Optical Instrumentation Incorporated, renowned manufacturer of video-based measurement and inspection systems. Newport now has automated manufacturing systems for fiber optic devise assembly.
1995 - Newport Corporation acquires Light Control Instruments Incorporated of San Luis Obispo, CA to broaden Newport's laser diode instrumentation and test system offerings.

Fondée en 1969 sous le nom de "Newport Research Corporation", la société commercialise alors des tables très innovantes, avec des corps en acier et dotées d'une âme en nid d'abeille, destinées à isoler les expériences laser des vibrations. À mesure que l'holographie, l'interférométrie et les autres technologies laser font leurs preuves, Newport développe ses produits dans le but de répondre aux besoins émergeant des scientifiques et des ingénieurs. Geschichte des Unternehmens
Das 1969 unter dem Namen Newport Research Corporation gegründete Unternehmen entwickelte zunächst innovative optische Tische mit Wabenstruktur und Deckplatten aus Edelstahl für die Schwingungsisolierung von Laserexperimenten. Als die Bereiche Holographie, Interferometrie und Lasertechnologie aufkamen, baute Newport sein Produktspektrum aus, um den neuen Anforderungen in Wissenschaft und Technik gerecht zu werden. Neben der Entwicklung von Produkten für die Schwingungsisolierung empfindlicher und hochpräziser Geräte erarbeitete das Unternehmen in enger Zusammenarbeit mit seinen Kunden Komplettlösungen in den Bereichen Optik, schwingungsisolierte Stahlwabenstrukturen, mechanische Positionierer und andere artverwandte Produkte. Im Jahr 1971 vertrieb das Unternehmen seine Produkte erstmals mittels eines Katalogs, der heute als die umfassendste Informationsquelle bezüglich Präzisionsoptik, Elektro-Optik und optomechanischer Produkte gilt.
