Models 423 / 433 / 443 series stages feature extended travel ranges in addition to exceptional performance, usability, and value with precision ball bearing construction. If you are looking for higher load capacity and larger platforms, Newport offers 426 and 436 Series Crossed-Roller Stages, or the Double-Row Steel Linear Ball Bearing Stages.
The performance of a translation or rotation stage is primarily determined by the type of bearings which are used. Ball bearing slides reduce friction by replacing sliding motion with rolling motion. The guide ways are externally loaded against the balls to eliminate unwanted runout in the bearings. Even with this preload, the friction is very low which results in extremely smooth travel with the capability to make small controlled incremental movements. For stability, repeatability, and exceptionally smooth motion of 423/433/443 stages, actuators bear upon a hardened carbide insert. Springs provide preload against the actuator tip to eliminate backlash.
A stable stainless steel actuator mounting system allows your choice of manual or motorized actuators to be attached in either a left- or right-hand configuration. A non-influencing lock (also reversible for left-handed configuration) provides positive stable positioning and guards against inadvertent adjustments for 423/433/443 stages.Looking for multi-axis stage systems?
