Please note that 818P-3kW-60 is being replaced by the 100 mm active diameter Model 818P-3kW-100.
The 818P-3kW-100 is a water-cooled thermopile detector that can handle up to 3 kW of cw optical power, the highest possible power for Newport optical detectors. It can handle up to 4 kW when illumination is limited up to 5 minutes. The detector is carefully designed such that the detector performance is not affected by the cooling water temperature. High quality absorbers are featured in the detector that exhibits the highest damage threshold in industry. It is ideal for lasers with a very high optical output power, such as CO2 lasers and fiber lasers. Two output connection options are available in the product: an attached cable with a DB15 connector (for use with a Newport optical power meter) and a USB port (for direct computer interface without a power meter).
For computer interface software see Downloads tab at 818P-3kW-100.
The DB15 connector houses an internal EEPROM for storing factory calibration information. If it is used with a Newport power meter, electrical power must be supplied to the detector via a USB cable, either from a computer or from an adapter, for example, Model USB-CH. 1/4-20 tapped hole. Calibration of the thermopile detector is required annually to assure NIST traceability.
