When a 1000 W Source doesnt offer enough output, choose this system. This is our highest intensity arc lamp source; it delivers ~30% more output than an equivalent kW system. It operates a 1600 W ozone free xenon lamp. The output from the 66930 Source is a collimated, 1.9-inch (48 mm) diameter output beam. Like our 50 to 1000 W Systems, the 66930 package includes everything you need to begin your work including:
- Lamp housing with an F/1 condenser and a built-in ignitor
- 69922 Arc Lamp Power Suppy
- 62713NS Ozone Free Xenon lamp and appropriate socket adapter
- All necessary cables and mounting hardware
Lamp Housing
The lamp housing needs to support the high intensity of our 1600 W arc lamp, maintain a safe operating temperature for the lamp and the optics, and protect the user from accidental exposure. We completely redesigned our Research Housing to meet all three criteria. The result is a dedicated 1600 W Lamp Housing with optimized cooling and a door interlock, which shuts off power to the lamp if the door is opened or if the lamp overheats due to blocked cooling air or a fan malfunction.
The housing has an F/1, two-element fused silica condenser with an Oriel® 2 Inch Series female flange.
Power Supply
The 69922 is long-lived, dependable, easy-to-operate, and ensures a highly stable output from the lamp. An RS-232 interface lets you set the lamps operating parameters, run the lamp, and monitor the lamp, remotely. Because of the intensity of the lamps UV radiation, we suggest that you operate the lamp remotely.
Lamp
The 62713NS is an ozone free, 1600 W Xenon Lamp. It is the only 1600 W lamp that will operate in this source; the 62711 and 62712 Lamps cannot be physically mounted in this lamp housing.
Mounting
This housing has four adjustable feet for free standing use. For fixed mounting, remove the feet and attach the housing directly to an inch or metric table or base plate.
Extended Care Program
All Oriel Arc Sources are shipped with a one-year warranty on parts and labor. We now offer an extended care plan, which gives you coverage for two years. Please ask a Sales Engineer about this plan, when placing your order.
Safety Considerations
These sources emit dangerous levels of UV radiation. Exposure, even for very short periods, can cause severe skin and eye burns. Always wear a faceshield, gloves and protective clothing when working around these sources, if the beam path is not enclosed. Personnel should take particular care with the neck and wrists, as these are often left exposed. This source also delivers a high level of IR energy, which can ignite flammable material in the beam path. Ensure that the beam path is clear.

Oriel Lamp Housings are designed to operate in a typical laboratory environment (typically 68 to 76 degrees F, up to 45% relative humidity). Temperature and humidity outside of typical laboratory range can contribute to cooling and ignition faults. Cooling issues will cause the over temperature sensor to open, and ignition problems will result from high humidity.
